Mary of Light

April 1st, 2002 - Getting Mary out of the weeds with the crane.
She had been laying on her side, where Tom Kennedy is walking in the tall grasses, for the past 9 months, waiting for our return.

April 1st - The crane swings her around to place her where
Eric can re-carve her in front of St. Paul's church.

April 1st - The skillful crane operator carefully
lowers her on to the timbers that will hold her high
enough so Eric can reach her with his sculpting tools.

April 3, 2002 - Eric swings a hammer to take off excess stone.
He plans to lighten this Mary considerably,
as the lines drawn in crayon in red and blue indicate.
To the right of the large sculpture, you can see a small study
sitting on the sidewalk that is his prototype.
If you look behind the sculpture, you can just see the edge of
the Sculpture of Mary that Eric completed for the church last year.
