May 9th ~ The dust flies. The new piece of marble arrived yesterday.
After being blessed by Father Campbell, Eric started working on the
new carving of Mary. Mary I stands vigil at the left of the photo.

May 11th ~ Drawing on the stone with red crayon,
Eric starts the first cuts of the sculpting process.                                                                                 

         
May 29th ~ Working with a hammer and chisel.

May 30th ~ The soft rounded shape of Mary emerges.
The red crayon markings in the middle indicate where the 
recessed area for the face and arms will be carved.
