February 2001

February 5th ~ The base is standing on its side, just before Eric
turns it over in order to finish the bottom. You now can see the
twelve sides.

February 9th ~ moving an air compressor with the double tripod and chain hoist.
This  lifting device is what Eric is using to move the stone and turn it when needed,
as well as heavy equipment, such as this. This commercial air compressor will
power his pneumatic air tools that he will soon be using.

February 13th ~ This is an example of the tool that the air
compressor can power. Eric is removing several inches from the
bottom of the base, a few inches at a time with an air hammer with
a chisel attached. As you can imagine, it is very slow work.

February 26th ~ Eric using a grinding wheel to smooth
out the top of the base. The top of the base is tapered
so that rain water will run off of it. A beautiful warm spring-like day.
